Character Summary: John Abbott was first shown in Genoa City in 1980. He was the head of Jabot Cosmetics. Jill went to work for John at Jabot as did John's son Jack. Jill started to pursue John, but he turned her away and she ended up in bed with Jack. John then left town for a bit in 1981. John returned in 1982 and Jill went back to work at Jabot. Later that year, Jill and John were married. When Jack was shot by Patti in 1983, John made his daughter Ashley president of Jabot. When Jack returned, John kept Ashley on as president of the company. John had a heart attack in 1983 and Jill slept with Jack again while someone took photographs of the two of them, Lindsay Wells a former flame of Jack's. John started to see his first wife again in 1984, Dina Mergeron. In 1985, Kay sent John the photos of Jill and Jack and he had a stroke. John then divorced Jill. In 1986, John learned that Jack was the man in the photos with Jill and ordered his son to leave his home. In 1989, John lost Jabot in a takeover to Victor Newman. In 1990, John started dating Jill again and in 1992 Jill moved back into the Abbott house. In 1993, Jill and John had a baby boy named Billy and they were remarried. In 1994, John and Jill divorced and then had a bitter custody fight over Billy. In 1998, John left town again. In 1999, Victor agreed to give Jabot back to the Abbott's along with a promisary note. In 2002, John started dating Gina Romalotti. In 2003, Jabot launched a new cosmetics line for women of color which did very poorly thanks to some fancy bribery by Victor and Michael. Gina moved into the Abbott house after her restaurant was burned down.

Character Summary: Jack Abbott first showed up in 1980 and was working at the family business, Jabot Cosmetics. In 1981, he slept with his stepmother Jill, which caused his father John to leave town. Jack then started to see Patti Williams. Jack married Patti in 1982, but continued an affiar with Diane Jenkins. In 1983, Patti saw Jack and Diane making love and it caused her to lose Jack's baby. Jack was later shot by Patti and while he was recovering his father John made Ashley president of Jabot. When he returned to the company, John kept Ashley as president. Patti and Jack divorced in 1983 and she left town. Jack slept with Jill again and Jack's former flame Lindsay Wells took photos of the two of them together. Jill got pregnant, but miscarried. In 1986, John learned that Jack was the man in the photos with Jill and John ordered him out of the Abbott house. In 1987, Jack worked with Nikki to try and get Victor's shares of Mergeron stock. Jack got involved with Leanna Love in 1989, which caused Victor to take over Jabot and make Brad Carlton Jack's boss. In 1990, Jack married Nikki to get back at Victor. In 1992, Nikki became pregnant with Jack's child but in 1993 suffered a miscarriage after an argument with Victor. In 1994, Jack got involved with Mari Jo Mason. He also learned that year that he had fathered a son while in Vietnam, named Keemo. In 1996, Jack started seeing Diane Jenkins again, but in 1997 she had an affair with Victor that ended her engagement to Jack. In 1998, Jack started an affair with Phyllis Sommers. Jack and Phyllis were married in 2001. Jack learned that Diane had had his baby, Kyle, by using his donated sperm. Phyllis and Jack sued Diane for custody setting off a war between them. Jack and Phyllis got custody of Kyle. In 2003, Jack and Phyllis' marriage hit rocky times when Phyllis went to work for rival Newman Enterprises.

Character Summary: Ashley Abbott came to town in 1982, when John returned after a brief absence. In 1983, Ashley was made President of Jabot Cosmetics while her brother Jack recovered from a gunshot wound. In 1983, Ashley discovered her mother Dina and her boyfriend Eric were once lovers. In 1985, Ashley learned that Brent Davis was her biological father which caused her to have amnesia and leave town. She was found by Victor and brought back to Genoa City where she stayed at the Newman house. Ashley was attracted to Victor Newman and their romance heated up in 1986. Ashley learned she was pregnant with Victor's child. In 1987, Ashley had an abortion which lead to an emotional breakdown and she ended up in a mental hospital where she was treated by Dr. Stephen Lassiter. Ashley later returned home and Dr. Lassiter came along as he was in love with Ashley. In 1988, Ashley married Stephen and he was later killed. In 1990, Ashley married Victor. After Nikki became hooked on painkillers, Victor supported her and in 1991 Ashley and Victor separated. In 1993, Ashley got involved with Blade Bladelson and they were married in 1994. Blade's twin brother Rick showed up in town and in 1995, Rick assumed Blade's identity, but Blade returned to town and Rick left. Blade was killed in a car wreck in 1995 and Ashley went to Paris. In 1997, Ashley had an affair with Cole Howard. In 2000, Ashley got pregnant using Victor's sperm and then married Brad Carlton. Ashley gave birth to a baby girl named Abby and later revealed on a video tape that the child is really Victor's and Brad learned the truth. In 2002, Ashley survived a bout with breast cancer and Olivia and Dru learned the truth about Abby. In 2003, Ashley was pregnant with Brad's child and had a devastating car wreck which killed the baby. Ashley then lost touch with reality thinking the baby was still alive. Sharon and Nikki learned the truth about Abby.

Phyllis Somers Abbott

Character Summary: In 1994, Phyllis had an affair with Danny Romalotti. Phyllis became pregnant and claimed the child was Danny's son. Phyllis came to town with Danny. In 1995, Phyllis wanted to get rid of Chris and Paul and tried to run them down with a car. The accident left Paul impotent. Phyllis then changed her son's birth records so Danny would look like the father by bribing a lab tech named Sasha. In 1996, Phyllis and Danny divorced. In 1997, Danny learned he was not Daniel's father and decided to sue for custody which he won. Phyllis ended up in an affair with Michael Baldwin. In 1998, Phyllis started an affair with Jack Abbott. In 1999, Phyllis left town. In 2000, Phyllis returned to town and hooked up with Jack again. In 2001, Jack and Phyllis were married. In 2002, Phyllis and Jack fought Diane for custody of Jack's son Kyle and Phyllis was sent to jail for setting the pool house on fire, but she was cleared. In 2003, Phyllis went to work for Newman Enterprises causing problems with Jack.
