Ratings Roundup
Nielson Ratings Week Ending May 12
Y&R 4.4 (+.2) By Deborah Horton Friday, May 19, 2006 It's the middle of May sweeps for 2006 and most of the soaps are faring well. Some of the soaps have pulled out the big guns and brought back some well known vets while others are letting secret revelations tell the tale. Either way you slice it...things are coming up rosy for May sweeps 2006 so far.
This is how the overall ratings shape up so far for the first two weeks of May: The bottom four soaps got off to a rocky start for May sweeps, but have rebounded in the second week. We will have to see if they can carry this momentum through for this week. The top 5 soaps got off to a good start and have kept building on it. GH brought back the big vets Robert, Holly, and Anna. Y&R let loose with the secret of Lily's paternity and the discovery that Phyllis pregnant. OLTL brought out a couple of tornadoes. B&B had Ridge almost die. AMC put a pregnant Kendall in a coma. Big stories....and seemingly big ratings return. This week will probably be good to the top 5 once again as their storylines continue to build. DOOL may pick up a little more as they have the return of Jack...long awaited by the fans. As for ATWT, GL, and PASS it remains to be seen if they can sustain the gains of this week for next. It's about 95 degrees here today as I write this....steaming hot...and it looks like the May sweeps are sizzling right along with the weather. Deborah Horton is a 35+ year soap opera fan.
